Wildness : Chapter ONE
The source of inspiration for Wildness is believed to have been carved by the forebearers of the Passamaquoddy tribe approximately 2000 years ago into the bedrock of what is known today as Hog Island in Machias Bay, Maine.
Experiencing these visual links to the past first-hand, Aylmer became haunted by visions of the spirit figures, especially after capturing their likeness with his camera and consequently bringing the petroglyphs into the present.
Once back in Brooklyn, NY the apprentice attempts to square with the spiritual forces directly and channels the tribal voices into his own artwork, a series of paintings, wax models, and a piece of video art that finds the figures have chosen Rothschild as their artist of record. Let this connection to the land and sea be known.
