Perfume Fountain in Public Park
BROOKLYN, NY - In Greenpoint's McGolrick Park a fountain has been installed that emits an all-natural fragrance which carries across much of the park's landscape. The fountain is the work of public artist Anne McClain and a team of five other Brooklyn-based artists. The project was inspired by the question:
Can compassion be transmitted with scent?
A volunteer trip to Mexico in the summer of 2009 was the first chapter of the project, which sought to manifest a scent in public space that inspired everyday acts of compassion.
Thus began the collaboration with Lance McGregor, Alan Iwamura, Isaac Tecosky, Facundo Newbery, Jarek Klim, the New York City Parks Dept, OSA North Brooklyn, St Nicks Alliance, and Robertet.
