Trust Art is a philanthropic initiative aimed at creating self-sustaining communities for the production of public art while also redefining what public art can be, do, or mean when initiated on a local level. With 5 Social Victories Trust Art aims to reveal the goals, obstacles, people, and societal concerns found in the most recently active Trust Art-commissioned projects. While each public art project has achieved varying degrees of completion as determined by the trajectory of each work, the true victories are in the planning, coordination, and execution of the projects by the artists in conjunction with their community members and in the face of bureaucratic, destructive, pessimistic, and complacent impediments too familiar in the public art realm. The exhibition itself looks to record the course of each project rather than to present the resultant public works while also actively inviting the public to join in the Trust Art initiative.
